Former Microsoft exec to lead major expansion initiative
Watertown, Mass. – April 17, 2012 – BlueMetal Architects, a leading technology architecture firm, announced today that Matt Kestian has joined the company as Consulting Director for BlueMetal’s Chicago office.
In this role, Mr. Kestian will manage BlueMetal’s Chicago presence as well as build deep customer relationships with some of the top brands in the Midwest. BlueMetal Architects works with top-tier clients to imagine, define and build innovative technology solutions which positively impact how they run their business with a focus on user experience, big data, application modernization and social platforms.
With over 16 years of IT experience focusing on infrastructure, operations and security, Matt has been a trusted advisor to many Fortune 500 Enterprise customers and offered strategic, long-term guidance to executives on infrastructure, operations, and security.
Prior to joining BlueMetal, Matt spent 12 years working for Microsoft Corporation, where his most recent position was serving as United States Compete Lead where he put in place systems to quickly gain competitive insights, set competitive strategy and drive execution of competitive marketing and sales for Microsoft’s $20 billion U.S. business.

Matt’s first role at Microsoft came in January 2000 where he served in a technology consulting role in Microsoft’s Midwest District. He helped launch the Chicago Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) in 2001 and was responsible for the technical and operational design of the MTC Data Center. In 2003, Matt was asked to join Microsoft’s National Security Team as a Strategic Security Advisor in Chicago covering the Midwest and assigned to the top 25% of enterprise accounts in that geography.
In 2005, Matt relocated to Irvine, CA to take on the role of Technical Director where he successfully led a team of Technology Specialists, Solutions Specialists and Technical Architects who work with customers to envision, architect, design and prove out solutions which address their top business priorities. Kestian was also responsible for leading the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) in Irvine, California and in 2007 Matt moved into the MTC Director role. In 2009 Kestian was elevated into an executive role as Specialist Director/Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft’s Southwest District.
Mr. Kestian has been an adjunct professor at both Illinois State University (Applied Computer Science) and De Paul University (Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems-Master’s Program).
Kestian received his M.S. in Applied Computer Science from Illinois State University (ISU) and a B.S. in Economics from Illinois State University.
